Motion sensors can keep lights off when they're not needed.

Here's some information on the different types of motion sensors we carry:

UNENCO Lighting Controls
Pioneering Advanced Lighting Technology

Since 1987, UNENCO has pioneered the use of advanced technology to design and manufacture solution-driven, energy saving products. UNENCO includes a full line of lighting controls. The comprehensive array of lighting control products also includes touch, toggle, rotary, and slide dimmers.

Today, as when it began, UNENCO remains committed to the product quality, innovation, and exceptional service that define it as a performance leader. That committment also ensures that UNENCO's advanced electronic products incorporate the technologies required to satisfy the global concern for energy conservation. Energy conserving products include photosensitive devices that use available daylight to reduce energy costs. Our Light Loggers are specifically designed to record light and occupancy use data that can be analyzed for potential energy savings.

Occupancy Sensors
Potential Savings From Occupancy Sensors

The EPA has conducted an independent, large-scale study of 171 sites across the United States. It has learned that occupancy sensors would save the following amounts of lighting electricity in the areas surveyed. Savings will range from 30 cents per square foot to more than 50 cents per square foot. The return on investment is likely to be more than 40 percent per annum and can be up to as much as 100 percent.

Passive Infrared Occupancy Sensors
Proven Quality - Advanced Technology

Passive infrared sensors monitor a specific area for a moving heat source such as the human body. PIR sensors use a multi-segmented lens to divide the space into zones. When a person enters the sensor field of view, the Fresnel™ lens focuses the IR energy emitted by the human body onto a pyro-electric detector. When that IR signature moves between zones the sensor interprets this movement as occupancy and turns on available lighting. PIR technology provides excellent motion detection but is subject to line of sight and is less sensitive to minor motion than ultrasonic.

Ultrasonic Sensors
Proven Reliability - Ultrasonic Technology

Ultrasonic sensors utilize a volumetric sensing technology to monitor a specific area. Transducers emit an inaudible wave pattern at a specific frequency filling the space and bouncing off all surfaces in the coverage area. This bouncing characteristic of the sound waves allows the sensor to detect motion around corners and behind partitions. When a person enters the sensor's coverage area the motion causes the emitted sound wave's frequency to change. The sensor detects this change and interprets it as occupancy turning on available lighting. Ultrasonic technology provides excellent motion detection and is not subject to line of sight restraints, allowing for superb minor motion coverage. Ultrasonic sensors are ideal in areas with partitions or where line of sight to sensor is blocked.

Multi-Technology Sensors
Exceptional Performance - Dual Technology

Multi-technology sensors incorporate both PIR and ultrasonic technologies into one compact device. By utilizing both technologies the strengths of one compensate for the weaknesses of the other. Multi-technology sensors provide superior occupancy detection in areas where a single technology sensor would not. Multi-technology sensors solve the challenges of complex environments by providing the superior minor motion detection provided by the ultrasonic and the excellent long-range detection offered by passive infrared.

Wall Switch Sensors

UNENCO wall switch products lead the industry with critical design patents for wall switch power supply and the Zero Arc Point Switching (ZAPS) circuit. ZAPS prolongs contact and product life by eliminating the in-rush from today's highly efficient electronic ballasts. All UNENCO wall switch products have 180 degree fields of view and are ideal for new or retrofit applications. Designed for enclosed offices, rest rooms, conference rooms, storage closets and areas up to 1200 sq. ft., it takes less than 10 minutes to replace a 2-wire toggle switch with a UNENCO wall switch sensor.
